As a student living in Student Acccommodation in North London, a fantastic option for a day out is doing the Green Trail from Finsbury Park to Hackney. The trail is a 3.5-mile walk that takes you through some of the most scenic parts of the city, and it’s an excellent opportunity to enjoy the fresh air, exercise and discover some hidden gems.

Starting from Finsbury Park station, the trail is well signposted, so it's easy to follow. You'll pass through Finsbury Park itself, a beautiful green space with lots of amenities. The park is a popular spot for picnics, sports, and dog-walking, and it's easy to see why.  If you're feeling peckish, it's worth stopping at the famous Finsbury Park Cafe for a coffee and a bite to eat.

As you leave the park, you'll cross over Seven Sisters Road and head towards Clissold Park. It’s  a beautiful green space in Hackney that's home to a wide range of wildlife, including ducks, geese, and swans. The park also features an animal enclosure, a butterfly dome, and a Victorian conservatory with plenty of benches and picnic tables if you want to take a break.

From Clissold Park, the trail takes you through the backstreets of Stoke Newington, an area with a rich history and lots of independent shops and cafes. It's worth taking a detour to explore some of the streets and see what you can find. You'll eventually come to Dalston, where the trail follows the route of the former railway line that used to run through the area. The path is now a greenway, and it's a lovely place to walk, with lots of trees and flowers.

The trail finishes at Hackney Marshes, a vast green space that's home to over 80 football pitches. The marshes are a great place to watch local football teams in action, and there are also plenty of walking and cycling routes to explore.

Overall, the Green Trail from Finsbury Park to Hackney is a fantastic way to explore some of the most beautiful parts of North London. Whether you're a student looking for a relaxing day out or a local resident who wants to discover new parts of the city, this trail is well worth checking out.

So why not grab a friend, put on your walking shoes and head out to explore? You won't be disappointed!
